Our History
Ensom Funeral Services was established as a family-owned funeral home dedicated to providing compassionate and professional care to families during their most difficult times. Founded by John Ensom, a highly respected Funeral Director with over 50 years’ experience in the industry, Ensom Funeral Services quickly became known for its personal approach and commitment to excellence.
Serving the Auckland community, and offering a range of bereavement services that honoured traditions, Ensom Funeral services also embraced modern needs. The company built a reputation for being trusted, family-oriented, and compassionate, with core values that set it apart from corporate funeral service providers.
In its early years, the business operated from a small but welcoming facility, ensuring that every family received individualised attention. Under John Ensom’s care and leadership, high standards of service were upheld, guiding families through the complexities of funeral arrangements with warmth and professionalism.
As the business grew, the importance of evolving with the community’s needs was recognised. This led to a significant transition when Rav Biswas joined the company. Having spent over a decade in the funeral industry, and with a deep passion for serving families, Rav brought fresh perspective and a strong commitment to sustain the values that John Ensom had established.
In 2025, the company rebranded as Ensom & Biswas Funerals, reflecting its growth and continued dedication to serving the community as a New Zealand family-owned business.
